General directions for Exeter by road, air and rail can be found on the University of Exeter's website. We have listed below various other means of transport, but if you require any help, please contact Sarah Adam (click here for contact information)

The Seminar will be held at the Lecture Theatre, Streatham Court, on the corner of Rennes Drive and Stocker Road,  University of Exeter (Streatham Campus). Please click on the links below for information on how to get to the Campus, or follow the instructions below.

Directions for Streatham Campus, University of Exeter

By Rail (From London Heathrow Airport and London Paddington Station)

1. From Heathrow Airport

Catch the Heathrow Express train to Paddington. The train runs every 15 minutes. (For timetable information, please go to the Heathrow Express website, www.heathrowexpress.co.uk)

2. From Paddington Station, London

Catch the train to Exeter, St David's. (For timetable information please go to the Railtrack website, http://www.railtrack.co.uk or the First Great Western website - www.greatwesterntrains.co.uk

3. From St David's Train Station to Streatham Campus.

The University is located half a mile from St. David's station. You can get there by either;

Taxi - There is a taxi rank just outside the train station, the journey will take about 5 minutes and cost approximately £3.00.

Walk - Leave the station via the main booking hall, and walk across the forecourt keeping to the right of the car parking area. You will meet Bonhay Road. Cross over at the pedestrian crossing. Turn left, and almost immediately right into a passageway called St. Clement's Lane. Follow this up the hill; it comes out on to St. David's Hill. Cross over and continue up the road opposite (Howell Road). You will then meet New North Road. Cross over at the zebra crossing, and turn left. The next major turning on the right is Streatham Drive. Take this, and fork left after a short distance (still called Streatham Drive). You will see a large map of the campus.

Bus - The Stagecoach mini-buses run approximately every 15 minutes from St David's Station to the Streatham Campus of the University. This route is service N and runs Monday to Friday.

By Rail from other areas

By car (from London Heathrow or Bristol Airport)

1. From London Heathrow Airport (journey time approx 3.5 hours)

Follow the signs from the airport for M4 WEST, join the M4 and head west until the junction with the M5 (junction 20 of the M4) then join the M5 following signs for M5 SOUTH WEST. Leave the M5 at junction 30. Take the 3rd exit (signposted A379) and follow this road to the first roundabout (you will see a large hotel called the 'Countess Wear Hotel' and a Shell garage), turn right here (take 3rd exit from roundabout) and follow this road towards the City Centre. After about 2 miles you will come to the junction with the inner ring road - turn left, into Western Way, and go down the hill, following the signs to Exeter St David's Railway Station. At the bottom of the hill you will come to a large roundabout that spans the river Exe over two bridges. Again, follow the signs to Exeter St David's Railway Station, taking the 4th exit from roundabout into Bonhay Road. Follow Bonhay Road, (the river Exe should be on your left) to St David's Railway station. Just after the station you will come to two mini-roundabouts, turn right at each and go up St David's Hill, taking the second turning on the left (at another mini-roundabout) into Hele Road. At the top of Hele road turn left at the traffic lights into New North Road. Follow this road past the Imperial pub on the left and take the next right, signposted 'University', into Streatham Drive. You will see a large map of the campus.

2. From Bristol Airport (journey time approx 1.25 hours)

Join the A38 from the airport by following the signs from the airport for the M5 SOUTH. Stay on the A38 for about 15 miles until you reach junction 22 of the M5 motorway. Join the M5 heading South West towards Exeter and Plymouth. Leave the M5 at junction 30. Take the 3rd exit (signposted A379) and follow this road to the first roundabout (you will see a large hotel called the 'Countess Wear Hotel' and a Shell garage), turn right here (take 3rd exit from roundabout) and follow this road towards the City Centre.
