This year we ran a project with Exeter undergraduates to survey the gut flora of honey bees around devon. Each of nine students surveyed was assigned a single hives from one of two different apiaries. They extracted the gut of five individual bees each and profiled the gut flora using Illumina sequencing and an "itags" method
