Final Conclusion
|
The acoustic calculations were performed for a simplified
car geometry as well as an even simpler example of a cylinder in the airflow
was used to test the noise prediction. Because of extreme time and
computational power needed, it turned out that it was not possible to solve
the acoustics of the example of the car geometry even if it was simplified
and modelled just in 2D. The reasons for this were investigated and discussed
in the Final Project Report. However there was a very simple theory
presented, how the dominant noise frequency could be roughly predicted for
very simple examples based on the vortex shedding. It would be necessary to
use even more simplifying assumptions like modelling just the sunroof in the
airflow or meshing the whole domain with finer mesh and using parallel solver.
This could obviously reduce the time demands significantly. |
