Gambit Preprocessing

The SolidWorks model was then imported into Gambit where the model was meshed. The mesh divides up the space surrounding the train into small individual pieces called elements.

A triangle shaped element, with an interval size of 5 was used for the train (click bottom right to enlarge), as this had relatively complex geometry. After meshing, the boundary conditions such as walls, pressure outlets and velocity inlets were assigned to each face.
