Prof Paul O'Shea
Paul O'Shea is Professor of Biophysics and Biomaterials within the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nottingham. He is currently Deputy Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences and Chairman of the Research Strategy Committee. He heads the Cell Biophysics Group based in the medical School at the University of Nottingham and has established a number of genuine interdisciplinary research programmes between the physical sciences, engineering and biological/biomedical sciences in research areas that have proved to yield truly value-added productivity.
Prof O'Shea currently holds a EPSRC-MRC Discipline-Hopping award addressing Quantum-mechanical analysis of intermolecular interactions with membranes, and acts as PI on a Wellcome Trust Programme Grant with Prof Somekh to develop surface wave (surface plasmon) microscopy as a high resolution imaging tool, directed towards a number of significant biological problems.
Prof Paul O'Shea is based in Nottingham.
