Affiliations and Policy Links

The EBRG has forged policy links with a number of local authorities and the charity Global Action Plan (GAP).

We are currently involved with four local authorities in Devon:

Exeter City Council

Plymouth City Council

North Devon District Council

Mid-Devon District Council

Through partnerships with these LA's the EBRG is working to assist local authorities in the formulation of policy aimed at encouraging wider participation in environmental action. Previous research into waste management has been used to provide an 'executive summary' for Exeter City Council which can be viewed as a Word document.

We have an agreement whereby we can use the data from Exeter City Council's Citizens Panel to examine the trends in environmental behaviour and attitudes in comparison to the data sets already available from the EBRG.

Our current project, on environmental action in and around the home, is in collaboration with Global Action Plan (GAP), the nationwide environmental charity that seeks to enhance environmental action by 'small change'. The charity works with schools, businesses and households in order to effect minor changes in lifestyle which, in cumulative terms, add up to significant alterations in the damage done to the environment.

The EBRG is involved with the 'Action at Home' programme within Devon and is using a sample of the households to compare to the wider sample in the study. This enables us to examine the possible differences between households who are on a voluntary programme and those in the wider population, as well as enabling us to make recommendations to GAP regarding their programmes.
