Many women experience all sorts of delusions and strange ideas when they give birth. What happened to you in Victorian times if chidbirth made you 'mad'? This illustrated talk and exhibition by Cath Quinn from Exeter's Centre for Medical History tells the story of the women sent to Devon asylums with 'puerperal insanity', what happened to them there, wether being 'mad' made them 'bad' mothers, and whether they ever got out?
