The Mineral Statistics of the U.K. is a long standing and ongoing research project within the Department of Economic & Social History of the University of Exeter. The project is led by Dr Roger Burt with research contributions from Peter Waite and IT assistance from Ray Burnley. The main focus of the project has been the collection of data on metalliferous mines active in the 19th. Century, this data has become part of the Mineral Statistics database.
The project has produced a ten volume series of books, each book focussing on one or more counties of the U.K. In general each book contains a Preface and Introduction, an editorial section on the mineral production of the county or counties, a set of tables listing mineral production by year and related to the total U.K. production, and finally, tables of production, ownership, management & employment data for each mine in the county.
