Welcome to the home page of the molecular ecology and evolution group (MEEG). Our research combines laboratory-based molecular genetic analysis with field studies. We work closely with stakeholders, allowing our research findings to feed directly into the management and conservation of a range of freshwater, marine and terrestrial systems.

We are currently researching population genetic variation in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and trout/sea trout (Salmo trutta), and are exploring connectivity in a number of marine species, including tropical corals and temperate marine invertebrates: soft corals and various lobster / spiny lobster species. We also maintain a long-running forensic entomology programme.
