Grant Award - Dr John Cooper (MARES Project)
Dr John P Cooper and co-applicant Dr Alison Gascoigne of the University of Southampton have won a British Academy small grant to conduct a sedimentological investigation of the harbour and foreshore areas of the medieval port-town of Tinnis in the northeast Nile Delta, Egypt. They plan to carry out the work in early 2012. Dr John P Cooper gave a lecture entitled "Canals to Suez: from Sesostris to Said"to members of the North East Ancient Egypt Society at the Dorman Museum, Middlesborough, on 2 July.
