About this guide

This page offers a Practical Guide to help you get started with having your lectures recorded. At Exeter, we use the Echo360 Lecture Capture system but the information here could relate to any kind of lecture capture. Most lectures are captured in situ, but a number of staff are also pre-recording lectures so that students watch these before coming to their classes.

Why Use Echo 360?

• Students like to have their lectures recorded and make good use of this facility
• Students can review material at their own pace and location
• It is especially useful for International students to support subject specific language development
• It can help staff review and improve their own practice
• Recordings can be watched by other staff in the teaching team - for example, before they run tutorials.
• Activities can be added to lectures in the VLE
• Pre-recording lectures is useful in encouraging different forms of follow-up engagement with student groups
