Other Old Choristers' Associations
The Exeter Cathedral Chorister Association will be holding a Silent Auction over the next few months to raise funds for choir enrichment activities and tours.
Items and services for the auction would be very gratefully received (e.g. restaurant meal voucher, hair dressing, gardening services, home-grown produce, hotel accommodation, car cleaning, music lesson, paintings). Email: ecoca.exeter@gmail.com
Work began after Easter to remove the 1960s stone flooring and concrete foundation beneath it in the Quire. It will be replaced by underfloor heating and a new marble floor. The work has been required to remedy a problem caused by damp - the 1960s concrete is trapping in ground water, which is causing structural problems in the East end of the cathedral. The new flooring will be permeable. It is planned to complete the first stage of the work by November 2023.
All services are now in the Nave.
Construction of the new Cloisters Gallery is also well on its way, with the walls mainly completed and the oak roof timbers being placed in position.
