The SCOBEC Genetics Laboratory Network was established in 2003 and provides genetic testing for ~14 million patients in England and Wales. The network laboratories received £6.5M funding following publication of the Genetics White Paper “Our inheritance, our future”. This investment has enabled the implementation of high throughput automation leading to increased capacity and decreased cost per test. All laboratories are accredited by CPA UK and are making good progress towards achieving the White Paper reporting targets.
