Developing the Digital University

Digital technologies are transforming the core business of universities: from research and knowledge transfer to teaching and innovation. Online access to academic knowledge and learning opportunities is changing expectations of what bricks-and-mortar universities will provide. There are pressures to recruit excellent students from around the globe, and to equip them to thrive in a digital society. At the same time universities must maintain standards of research excellence in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. In these circumstances, universities need to develop the digital capacity of their staff. They need to continuously innovate not only in subject-based research but in the process of learning and in the practice of being a learning organisation.

These resources describe the journey of one institution - the University of Exeter - in developing digital capability. Reports and findings may not translate to other institutions but do provide an insight into one approach - using postgraduate students as pioneers and agents of change.
