"Hormone Replacement Therapy in Advanced Breast Cancer"

Project Summary and Objectives:

The project will evaluate the effects of hormone replacement therapy in women with advanced breast cancer in terms of response to tamoxifen and other treatments, progression rates and mortality, menopausal symptoms and quality of life.

Advanced breast cancer has been chosen because effects on disease progression rates can be more rapidly and accurately measured and the ethical problems of giving a potentially harmful treatment are less difficult because of an expected improvement in quality of life.
