I am currently studying a PhD in nano-ecotoxicology. Here I am exploring the physical properties of Zinc Oxide and Cerium Oxide nanoparticles, looking at the dispersion techniques and stabilities of the nanoparticles in different solutions, specifically the aggregation and dissolution properties and replicating environmental conditions with salts and sediment. I am also investigating the specific unique properties of the nanoparticles, like the photo-electron generation of Zinc Oxide, and the Free radicals associated with the Cerium Oxide nanoparticles. Techniques that I am using to study the nanoparticles include evanescent wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy, ICP-MS and UV/Vis spectroscopy.
